Water Filter by EcoFiltro - More than just filtered water

Sometimes an object we source ticks every box for what we like in a product. This enamel tabletop water filter delivers just that, provides pure, clean water through a ceramic filtering unit, in a timeless and functional canister.

Manufacturers Ecofiltro began with a Guatemalan-born innovation: a natural, affordable way to filter and improve water quality. Similar to the ethos of our Portable Stove, the Ecofiltro filter started as a practical solution for rural communities, which gradually grew into a global mission to promote wellness and reduce plastic waste.

The outer canister is made from enamel with a stainless steel tap and can filter half a litre per hour once activated, with a capacity of five litres. The filter is composed with three material components, each serving an individual purpose in the filtrations system:

Clay – The fired clay filter forms microscopic porous channels that capture contaminants present in the water, including solids, bacteria and parasites.

Sawdust – Through the manufacturing process, sawdust is transformed into activated carbon, eliminating any unpleasant odour, taste, and turbidity from the water.

Colloidal Silver – Colloidal silver, a natural germ-fighter, acts as a secondary protective layer, neutralising contaminants, and is applied to clay after being fired. This widely-used bactericide purifies water globally without any adverse effects.

The clay filter removes 99.9% of bacteria, parasites, pesticides and harmful microorganisms as well as 13 of the 14 tested pharmaceutical substances found in European waters. The water filter boasts a 100% removal of heavy metals cadmium, lead, mercury and manganese with a 63% reduction of arsenic and 100% elimination of microplastics. A perfect antidote to the plague of plastic bottled water!

The ceramic filter itself is replaceable, with a recommendation of replacement every two years. Water passes through the ceramic filter in a gravity fed system - no electricity or plumbing required– Simply top up the filter and let the natural process occur.

To date, the plastic-free filtration system has improved the lives of 1 million families in Guatemala alone. By adopting a social business model, Ecofiltro has delivered thousands of filters to rural schools, working with NGOs and government agencies to reduce carbon emissions and plastic pollution, all while providing thousands of children their first sip of truly clean water. As of December 2025, they have spared 115 million plastic bottles from our planet thereby eliminating the generation of 66,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions, alongside preventing the release of billions of microplastics into the environment.
